While oil is a standard item in any baking recipe, not everyone wants to use what can be an unhealthy foundation when they bake. Here are some oil substitutes that you can use the next time you decide to bake.

Avocado

In addition to being filled with natural fats, avocado is great for providing your recipe with a creamy texture. Once you’ve scooped out your avocado, make sure to mash it finely so that there are no chunks.

Melted Butter

What’s great about this substitute is that however much oil you normally need is exactly how much butter you should use. Melt the butter in the microwave before use and perhaps use vegan butter if you are that way inclined.

Greek Yogurt

Because of how creamy and rich it is, Greek yogurt is ideal for desserts such as cookies, pound cakes, and blueberry muffins. Beware that you’ll need to dilute it with water before use due to how thick its texture is.
