Fruit leather is the one good thing everyone looked forward to seeing in their lunch boxes. If you were a fruit leather lover yourself, you can make it easily at home for yourself or your children! You don’t even need any special equipment, just a little patience and a lot of free time.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 150F degrees, or as low as your oven can go. This is essential for making chewy and delicious fruit leather.
- Cover a baking sheet with a layer of parchment paper.
- Peel, chop, and core 4 cups worth of apples and pears. If you want to just use one fruit, double the amount.
- Put the fruit into a blender with 1 cup of sugar, and 1/4 cup of lemon juice. Blend until the mixture is completely smooth.
- Pour the mixture out onto the tray and make sure it has spread evenly all throughout. You don’t want to have different thicknesses at the end of the cooking process.
- Place the tray on the top rack of the oven and keep the door of the oven slightly open.
- Bake for about 5-6 hours or until the surface of the fruit leather isn’t tacky and you can tear into it.
- Cut it and roll it up into strips and enjoy!
