Fruit leather is the one good thing everyone looked forward to seeing in their lunch boxes. If you were a fruit leather lover yourself, you can make it easily at home for yourself or your children! You don’t even need any special equipment, just a little patience and a lot of free time.

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 150F degrees, or as low as your oven can go. This is essential for making chewy and delicious fruit leather.
  2. Cover a baking sheet with a layer of parchment paper.
  3. Peel, chop, and core 4 cups worth of apples and pears. If you want to just use one fruit, double the amount.
  4. Put the fruit into a blender with 1 cup of sugar, and 1/4 cup of lemon juice. Blend until the mixture is completely smooth.
  5. Pour the mixture out onto the tray and make sure it has spread evenly all throughout. You don’t want to have different thicknesses at the end of the cooking process.
  6. Place the tray on the top rack of the oven and keep the door of the oven slightly open.
  7. Bake for about 5-6 hours or until the surface of the fruit leather isn’t tacky and you can tear into it.
  8. Cut it and roll it up into strips and enjoy!
