Upgrade Your Mashed Potatoes With This Paris Mash

Elevate your mashed potato game with the luxurious Paris mash, a staple in French cuisine known for its silky texture and rich buttery flavor. Unlike traditional mashed potatoes, Paris mash incorporates generous amounts of butter and milk to achieve a smooth and creamy consistency that’s simply irresistible. Let’s dive in. 

Ingredients

  • 3 large potatoes (about 2 pounds)
  • Fine sea salt
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 1 cup butter
  • Optional – extra butter or parsley to serve

Instructions

  1. Boil the potatoes in their skins until done. While they’re still hot, peel the potatoes. 
  2. After peeling, pass the potatoes through a ricer and then through a drum sieve into a saucepan for a smooth texture. 
  3. With a wooden spoon, stir the mashed potatoes over low heat until all the moisture has evaporated.
  4. Add ½ cup of butter to the mashed potatoes and stir until the butter is fully incorporated. Add half of the milk and continue to stir. 
  5. Repeat this process with the remaining butter and milk until all ingredients are well combined and the mash is light and creamy.
  6. For an extra touch of indulgence, serve with add a knob of butter on top. Sprinkle with fresh parsley for a pop of color and flavor if desired.
